Yard Sale Chic

Yard Sale Chic

This is my friend Melissa. Melissa loves to ride her bike. Melissa's bike is not new. It is rusty, has paint chipped off, and looks like it's been to the end of the world and back. It's also probably way older than her. But Melissa lovingly rides her trusty friend and even outfitted it with wonderful cream tires. It doesn't even have a kickstand, but that's how she rolls. Melissa went to school in Savannah and is pleasantly surprised with how quaint and charming West Palm's historic neighborhoods are. One of these neighborhoods, Flamingo Park, has a fantastic community yard sale once or twice a year. The streets here are so narrow that a traffic advisory had to be posted to warn those looking for a scavenging challenge, aka, perfect for shopping on two wheels. Thirty-three houses later, Melissa's rusty old basket is holding a bathroom rug, designer-label suits, other misc. clothes, and an antique folding chair. This chic, the yard-sale way. They say we cannot possibly carry much stuff on a bicycle. Bah I say, what utter rubbish! Literally, one's rubbish is another's treasure!
